Breakaway Tours currently has 250 staff members, 1 200 promotional people on campuses and services over 18 000 high school, college and university students every year. Objective

Baldhead Systems Inc. began a relationship with Breakaway Tours over five years ago. The objectives for Baldhead Systems Inc. were to implement custom solutions that focused primarily on driving efficiencies as well as in helping the executive better manage its staff. Breakaway’s goal was not to move away from personal service but rather learn how to do it better and more cost-effectively.

Solution

Baldhead Systems Inc. created a network solution which allows the telemarketing and contact management system to be integrated with the sales of tours and the administration necessary with their suppliers who include hotels (from the Holiday Inn to the Hyatt), coach companies (primarily independent operators like Trentway Wagar, PMCL, etc.). and their partners, such as MuchMusic, Bell Solo and Hershey’s (Sand Job 2000).

One of the most crucial aspects to Breakaway generating business as well as delivering a unique experience depends on the sales people and the group leaders. To assist the sales process, Baldhead built functionality within the current application to allow the sales team to coordinate call backs and refer leads to the relevant sales person to guarantee a more effective sell. Within that application, is also a tool to monitor the sales team in order to properly reward and manage sales people idiosyncratically. Group leaders are tracked based on their preferences for destinations as well as for the amount of people they can draw to the tour. Management then has the ability to provide rewards to group leaders to solidify that relationship and, hence, the business.

All of this is integrated into the accounting system that resolves the issue of entering data multiple times as well as allows Breakaway to administer their accounts more effectively.
