Web Developer
The Web Developer will perform tasks assigned by the Sr. Web Developers with direct supervision from the Project Manager. The Web Developer is responsible for day-to-day modification and creation of site content, and will assist colleagues in the web development team on technical aspects of the website, including performance issues such as speed of access. This includes building new sections or new sites, coordinating content authors to ensure content is up-to-date and where needed assistance is required in uploading or editing of content. Other duties include creation of HTML e-mails and landing pages, site development through a content management system and web graphics development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists in the design, development and testing of HTML pages.
- Assists in programming custom functionality for the website (VBScript, .NET, JavaScript, jQuery, etc).
- Understands project and development plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines while establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans.
- Adheres to coding standards defined by management.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills to create well designed XHTML web pages
- Efficient in cross-browser testing and site Q/A. Recognizes the fundamental differences between the various Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
- Understands relational database concepts and can write basic SQL statements.
- Understands Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Familiarity with Web 2.0 platforms and website trends.
- Establishes harmonious working relationships with team members.
- Values internal and external clients and responds to their needs as they arise.
Programming Languages
- Proficient in HTML, CSS and XHTML.
- Possesses working knowledge of at least one structured programming language.
- Possesses working knowledge of, but not limited to JavaScript, CSS, Ajax/JQuery, .NET, VBScript, Microsoft SQL and Adobe Photoshop.
- Additional knowledge of these programs added assets: Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash / ActionScript, Microsoft IIS Management Architecture.
- A Bachelors Degree is required. Advanced degrees will be accepted in light of years of experience.
