Commodity Forwarders Inc. is the largest perishables forwarder on the west coast of the United States. The company’s operations include cold storage, importing and exporting. They ship goods via land, air and ocean.

Objective

Commodity Forwarders entire business was managed on paper. They wanted the most cost-effective way to electronically-enable their business so they could operate satellite offices with skeleton crews.

Result

Commodity Forwarders Inc. has been able to better manage and identify problems in their processes, which is critical when dealing with perishable goods. They have been able to reduce its billing period down to 10% of what it previously was, freeing up capital for growth. They have been able to expand their offices by 50% allowing them to establish a presence in the east coast. These offices also run with smaller, more empowered staff. All of this was accomplished with a strict budget that electronically-enabled antiquated software for Internet deployment.

 

Solution

Designed a simple front-end allowing the customer to track its shipment via a website that is fully integrated with their in-house systems, which handle inventory, shipping, tracking and invoicing between multiple offices throughout the United States.
